It's the holidays and workplaces have slowed down, what can you do to boost your job search?

It's nearing year end and the holidays are around the corner -in the back of your mind is the nagging question -what should I be doing to move my job search forward? Keep it simple as there are many competing demands this time of year.

Family, friend, neighborhood and work parties all present opportunities to talk about your job search and the work you might be doing to refresh your skills.  It's a great time to try the new short elevator pitch you have been thinking about.  Or talk to a friend of friend about the steps you have taken to be ready to be back at work. We know you have worked at getting your skills up to speed, networked, possibly interviewed and may even have re-entered the workforce.  Remember to talk time for yourself and congratulate yourself for all that you have accomplished this year.  Small steps eventually add up to big leaps.

My Facebook feed shows  reacHIRE - an organization to help women re-enter the workforce is offering a "Resume" workshop and a "PowerUp" workshop to prepare to go back to work.  It sounds interesting, all I have to do is send in my resume, how hard can that be I think, let's go for this! ‘When are you going to get a job…?’ asked my children.  A valid question, as I had been searching for many months, but, not necessarily one that I expected to hear from a 5 and a 7 year old.  I had stopped working while pregnant with the 5 year old and committed to returning to work once both children were settled in primary school.
